Description
A traditional method of sewing originating in Japan from the 17th century, Sashiko, meaning ‘little stabs’, uses a running stitch to form a variety of geometric patterns. It was originally a form of darning to mend clothing and strength weaker areas of the fabric. It is still a sustainable method of mending although is now used more for decorative embroidery.
In this 2-hour workshop, you will learn how to make the stitches, transfer patterns onto fabric and make a coaster and a sampler. For the intermediate level (those who have attended a previous class) Suzanne will show you how to change colour threads and create beautiful pictures (see gallery photos)
Beginners and intermediate welcome.
