About The Nimble Thimble

The Nimble Thimble is a fabric, yarn, haberdashery and craft shop in the heart of the town of Buckingham.

Here you will always find a warm welcome, along with a wide selection of hand-picked fabrics and yarns, which are sure to inspire, as will our range of crafts from, cross stitch to macramé. There is something for everyone, whether you are new to crafting or an experienced hand and each month sees new stock arriving.

In addition, we run workshops and informal “knit and natter” groups, where everyone is welcome.

We are a stockist for Janome sewing machines and also provide a same day repair services for all makes and ages of machines.

Who we are

The Nimble Thimble was started 14 years ago by two friends Val Sandford and Jane Templeman who loved to craft but couldn’t find anywhere local.

From this small beginning The Nimble Thimble was born and proved to be a huge success. So much so that it quickly out grew its premises in Bridge Street and moved to a larger space in Well Street, where it can still be found today.

In 2020 Jane Hawkins took over and, together with Sara Blackwell, Kate Lowe, aim to make The Nimble Thimble the one stop destination.

2021 saw a facelift and reorganisation of the shop layout. This created more space for new yarn and crafts and in 2024 it is planned to introduce dressmaking fabrics for the first time.
